RIDING HALL PRAGUE CASTLE
The Riding Hall, the largest Baroque building at Prague Castle, was erected in the north part of the Castle grounds in the late 17th century. On its facade, facing the street U Prasneho mostu, are stucco reliefs, which reveal the original purpose of the building. The Emperor Leopold I had the covered riding school built with its long arcade balcony facing out onto the summer riding school. From the balcony, visitors watched equestrian events held in the open air.
Today Baroque gardens are situated next to the Riding School on land over the garage with the fleet of the Presidentīs cars. The gardens are separated from the street by the long narrow wing of the picture gallery. The whole complex of buildings and gardens forms a surpassingly quiet spot with a splendid view of the Great Tower of the St. Vitus Cathedral and part of the medieval Castle fortifications.
