TROJA CHATEAU

Troja Chateau is situated on the Left Bank of the Vltava River, where the river turns northwards and flows out of the city. The building was constructed and the garden landscaped in 1679-85 after a design by J.B. Mathey in the style of Italian suburban villas. The interiors are decorated with wall and ceiling paintings by Italian and Dutch artists. Original outbuildings are currently used as a restaurant, gardens are in French style.

The chateau was reconstructed in the 1980 and is one of the masterpieces of Czech Baroque art. A part of the chateau has been used for lectures, concerts and theatre productions. Capacity of the Main Hall is 200 people in banquet style and so is the Stable, located in the garden.
